Rickie Fowler entered the final round of The Barclays at nine-under with a one stroke lead over Patrick Reed. He held onto that lead for a while before eventually relinquishing it. Fowler, who would have moved to first in the FedExCup standings with a win and solidified himself an automatic spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, finished three strokes behind Reed and while he moved up from 28th to 16th in the FedExCup points, he didn’t finish well enough to lock up a Ryder Cup spot. Reed finished at nine-under, one stroke ahead of Sean O’Hair and Emiliano Grillo and two ahead of Jason Day, Gary Woodland, and Adam Scott. This was the first win of the 2016 season for Reed, who had two second place finishes early in the year, but hadn’t put it all together yet. It’s safe to say he did so at the right time. With the win at The Barclays he moves to first in the FedExCup standings.
